Capstone students delivered a truly exceptional performance at the Shanghai International Debate Open (SIDO) 2025, held from April 18th-20th! In an incredible feat, every single Capstone debater progressed to the elimination rounds of this incredibly competitive competition, demonstrating a full contingent break.
Several students reached the final rounds across different age categories. In the Over 16 category, Adam P., Tony S., and Moses L. (all from CIS), along with Kaikai W. (HKIS), all made it to the Finals. Moses L. also achieved 12th Best Speaker, while Kaikai W. earned the 17th Best Speaker award. Yifu X. (BCIS), Alicia Z. (FIS), and Jeffrey S. (WIS) reached the Quarterfinals in the same category.
Bella L. (CIS) represented Capstone in the Under 16 Finals. Isabella Z. (BNDS) and Jasmine G. (ISB) reached the Semifinals, with Isabella achieving the remarkable feat of 2nd Best Speaker in the Under 14 category and Jasmine achieving 3rd Best Speaker in the Under 16 category. Emi R., Emma D. (both CIS), Yeonseo K. (GSIS), Jake I. (DBS), and Theodore W. (HKIS) made it to the Under 16 Quarterfinals. Further speaker awards in the Under 16 category include: Emi R. (12th Best), Theodore W. (14th Best), and Yeonseo K. (18th Best).
