On Sunday 16 August 2026, Capstone Debate and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University filled a hall in Kowloon for the third Summer Debate Classic — the annual back-to-school tournament for primary debaters aged 9 to 12. Thirty teams and 95 speakers from public, private and international schools competed in the Junior World Schools format: four-minute speeches, thirty minutes of impromptu prep, and a full day of rounds judged by Capstone coaches and members of Hong Kong’s senior circuit.

The Summer Debate Classic is open to new and experienced primary debaters, including composite teams. Capstone’s weekly programmes in Causeway Bay and Jordan run year-round, and the next step after a first tournament is usually a free placement assessment.
